All applications are first reviewed by a member of our team. Only organizations that are approved in the initial screening will be asked to provide the full Program Description and additional supporting documentation mentioned below:


Grant Program Overview

The Austin Legacy Foundation partners with highly qualified 501(c)(3) public charities that serve youth and animals in need across Arizona. Through intentional, purpose-driven giving, we support programs that create lasting and meaningful community impact.


Grant Guidelines

  • Grants are awarded for a one-year period, with the opportunity to re-apply in future cycles.

  • Most grant awards are limited to $25,000; larger requests may be considered in select cases

  • Emergency funding requests outside of this timeframe may be considered on a case-by-case basis

    Applications must be submitted between January 1st and February 1st.

    Applicants will be notified by March 1st if they passed the initial screening.

    Additional supporting documentation must be submitted by March 15th.

    Between March 15th and April 15th interviews and in-person visits to the potential recipients will be held.

    Grant recipients will be notified no later than May 15th.



Initial Screening

Applicants will undergo an initial review by a member of our team to determine alignment with our mission and funding priorities.

Upon approval of the initial application, organizations will be asked to provide the full Program Description and supporting documents listed below. Please submit the following items numbered 1–11 with a total length not to exceed five typed pages. Items 12 - 17 may be submitted electronically to info@austinlegacyfoundation.com.

  1. Mission and geographic focus

  2. Program description

  3. Description of the need and proposed project

  4. Anticipated immediate and long-term results

  5. Implementation plan

  6. Potential challenges

  7. Community partners and coordination efforts, if applicable

  8. Criteria for evaluating results

  9. Plan for sustaining the project beyond the one-year grant

  10. Principal staff and their qualifications

  11. Number of clients served in the past 12 months

  12. Current operating budget and balance sheet, plus income and expense reports (current month, year-to-date, trailing 12 months)

  13. Project-specific budget

  14. Most recent independent audit (if required)

  15. List of grants obtained in the past two years, including amounts, and pending grant applications

  16. IRS determination letter confirming 501(c)(3) status

  17. List of Board of Directors and meeting frequency

Be specific about how your initiative will directly improve the lives of vulnerable children or animals in our local community.

Ensure your proposal aligns with our focus on long-term sustainability, demonstrating a clear and strategic plan for future growth.

When prompted, be prepared to Include relevant documentation and details regarding the proposed use of funds and expected impact.
